Thanksgiving is approaching quickly and I have so much to be thankful for. Considering that Veterans Day just past, I thought I would share this.

For several years, I had the honor of being the photographer for the Marine Corps Birthday Military Ball in Bakersfield, Ca. The Marine Corps Birthday Military Ball is a perfect blend of honor, respect, tradition, and fun.

To watch the activities from the perspective of an outsider is an experience I am grateful for.

I witnessed the frenzy that takes place before it begins. The Marines charged with making the event happen run around making sure that the POW/MIA table is properly set up, that they all know their part in the ceremony from cutting the cake, to presenting the Colors, and the many other details that go into honoring the tradition of this event.

The ceremony begins, and everything takes place as it should. The honor and tradition that these men and women share is moving, and after all is said and done, the pressure is released and they get to cut loose and have fun!

Throughout all this activity, I shoot formals of these Marines with their significant others, who also deserve our respect and appreciation for the sacrifice they make by being without their Marine.

I want to say thank you to our Military for doing what you do and to their families for supporting them!

Here are a few images from those events:
